Traders of South African origin attend endless meetings to find a solution but there is none. Authorities are being blamed for not exercising enough control over the influx of foreign traders in the Western Cape townships.
On the other side Spaza shop owners of foreign origin, like Alex Yesuf, are complaining about attacks from unknown people, their shops being vandalized, stock looted and robbed at gun point.
While everyone think these attacks could be synonymous with high crime levels, foreign traders say it’s all linked to the fight for the turf and competition for business space.
